Stacey and I hammered together a quick spot idea to send off to a budweiser designated driver contest by poptent. Part of what made it quite easy was that it contained only three setups. In and out in six and a half hours. Plus, following the trail of if placing a light where the sound guy is … I dropped in a little kino through the open sun roof to help illuminate the inside of the car and flatten it out. This is certainly the beauty light spot. I’ll package it together and send it off to be judged. I’m mostly hoping it will resonate with more of the agency cats out there for projects they’re working on.
Here we have me working the angle while Matt Boucher mixes down the channels … he had to move his boom to the driver side window. Hey … maybe we should put a light in there?

Another fine day down on Lucifer’s Crewcut. We even wrapped an hour early … now that’s cookin’ with gas! Robert helped pull together some great bits by the band. Plus I got to keep my line as the non-sequitur transition out of the hallway into the closet. I now have the material for the first half of the film. Some tricky stuff coming up, but it will be totally cool and worth it. Here’s a couple of shots … the reverse angle of the Elks lodge and the inside of the closet.

Gary Hartunian signs Spoiled Milk, er or Lucifer

Things are cooking over at the studio as the final touches are going on for another shooting day of Lucifer’s Crewcut. This time we’re shooting the reverse of the lodge and the remainder of the hallway. And just for kicks we threw in the closet. The days have been long to this point and Stacey and I are a little tired … I need to get some decent rest tonight as it’s a full day tomorrow.
I had some guys not be able to make it this time … Luckily, superstar Joe Mendoza stepped in to run the G&E team and dial us in. I always feel more at ease in capable hands.
After this shoot, I’ll see about getting the first part of the film up … of course I’m squeezing in a little commercial number the following Sunday. I’ll get something up about that later.
Sometimes it’s nice to be able to create something great with your partner. And to be able to laugh while you’re doing it … that’s even better. You’d think I’d be talking about Ozi, but this picture puts us in a different place.

Had the Dandy Dwarves in the studio the other day to shoot a spec for a Doritos commercial. High concept of living the bold life, flying through the air in the talons of a giant condor. We strung up the blue screen to take advantage of the mezzanine for lighting and rigging. Josh is seen here testing out the pulley rig before we had the talent slip it on.

The previous spot (we shot the other day with the ever fabulous Bob Brindley) is up on the Doritos site and awaiting your viewing pleasure.
